Harwich is a pretty little seaport on the far north eastern coast of Essex in the UK. It has a rich history dating back to the 12th century and from 1570 to 1611 was home to one Christopher Jones. In Harwich, Jones was a capital burgess, master mariner and part owner of ships, first the Josian and later the Mayflower - the ship he would eventually use to transport the pilgrim fathers to the New World.

We invite you to discover the Harwich that Jones knew and find out how Harwich became such a hub for merchants, mariners, explorers and privateers. Hidden in the ancient streets of the old town you will find clues that transport you back in time to the early 17th century and find out why Jones made the difference to a troubled expedition.
